Until we can artificially procreate and somehow circumvent death, we will never progress in an emotion and/or ethical, psychological way, etc. For so long as we have a finite lifespan and that society still values breeders over non-breeders and all of the attributes that go along with it, we're going to get the same results but with different technological toys.
